Three injured in clashes between fans before the Europa League final

Three people were injured and seven were arrested for the clashes that took place hours before the Europa League soccer final, which will face Roma against Sevilla this Wednesday in Budapest.

“Several people clashed” in the early afternoon, in the streets of the Hungarian capital, the scene of the final, says the statement issued by the local police.

According to the same statement, “a Spaniard and a Swede were taken to the hospital for further care.” Police say “hooliganism accusations” were made and seven supporters have been arrested.

Each of the clubs expects around 15,000 fans tonight at the Puskas Arena, a stadium that has an official capacity of 68,000 spectators.

Roma faces Sevilla this Wednesday in the Europa League soccer final, with Portuguese coach José Mourinho trying to win the second consecutive European trophy for the Italians, against the title record holder in the competition.

José Mourinho, who led the Romans to the Europa League last season, is looking for a new European glory, against an opponent who has won all six finals played (2006, 2007, still under the name of the UEFA Cup, 2014, 2015 , 2016 and 2020).
