Central defender Diogo Leite left FC Porto and signed permanently with Union Berlin, the club to which he was loaned and who reported on Thursday that he had activated the purchase clause, worth 7.5 million euros.
“Union activates the purchase option. In 2022/23, Union Berlin had received Diogo Leite on loan from FC Porto. A year later, it moved up with the agreed purchase option,” the German club says on its official page.

FC Porto also announced the departure of the central defender, aged 24, via a message on the social network Twitter, thanking the player and saying that Diogo Leite will “always” be part of the club.
Union Berlin has not specified amounts, but the press indicates that the German club will pay the 7.5 million euros that was foreseen at the time of the loan and with an option to buy.
“I feel very comfortable here from the start, happy to have put in a good performance. The season has been successful and fun. I hope to continue like this and achieve the goals we have,” said the defender, quoted by Union Berlin.

In the German team, Diogo Leite played 40 games in his debut season, 38 of which as a starter, guaranteeing fourth place in the Bundesliga and qualification for the Champions League.
