Nine young people, some of them minors, were arrested for theft during the soccer championship celebrations held from Saturday to Sunday in Lisbon, the Public Security Police (PSP) reported today.
In a statement, the PSP said that the group includes a 15-year-old boy and eight between 16 and 18 years old, detained in the vicinity of Praça Marquês de Pombal.
The suspects in the robbery were arrested after “detailed descriptions” and had four mobile phones in their possession, two of them belonging to “the victims who had reported the events moments before, recognizing the perpetrators of the robberies on the spot,” describes the Police.
The rest of the mobile phones were seized, since their owner was unknown, which meant a patrimonial damage of 1,600 euros.
The arrests were made by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command, through the Criminal Investigation Division, and the detainees were brought before the courts for questioning, applying to three of them the coercive measures of weekly appearances; biweekly presentations to one; and three-week presentations to two youth.
The minor under 15 years of age was handed over to his mother, “being the same to present him before the Family and Juvenile Court of the area of residence, for the application of a protective measure”, highlights the PSP, adding that the other two young people were released without coercive measure.
