UEFA is launching disciplinary proceedings against Mourinho for speaking to the final referee

UEFA announced on Friday that it has opened disciplinary proceedings against Roma coach, Portugal’s José Mourinho, over words directed at England referee Anthony Taylor after Sevilla’s lost Europa League final.

The opening of the Portuguese coach’s trial is one of many related to Wednesday’s final, which the Spaniards won on penalties (4-1) after a 1-1 draw in regular time and extra time.

On the side of the Romans, Mourinho will be investigated for insults and “abusive language against a referee”, after footage was released of the coach rioting against Anthony Taylor, later harassed by fans at Budapest airport, still in the garage of the Puskas Arena.

Earlier, during a press conference, the Portuguese coach had already criticized the work of the England referee and questioned several moves in the match, which saw 14 yellow cards, eight of which were for the Italian team.

Roma can also be penalized for “inappropriate behavior by the team”, public disturbances, damage to property, throwing objects and using fireworks.

As for the Spaniards, the throwing of objects, fireworks and inappropriate behavior by the team contributed to the invasion of the venue by supporters.
