Vilaverdense and BSAD drew 1-1 this Saturday, in the first leg of the play-off for access to the II Portuguese Football League, in a match with Ascendente Minho, despite the fact that BSAD wasted a penalty.
At Estádio Cruz do Reguengo, in Vila Verde, the visiting team scored first, through João Marcos, in minute five, and Gonçalo Teixeira equalized, in minute 30, before Ivo Gonçalves saved João Marcos’ penalty kick , in the 45+ minute 11.
In the second game of the season between the teams, after BSAD’s 4-1 triumph for the Portuguese Cup, the II Liga team scored in the first foray into any of the areas, with João Marcos benefiting from the Defective cut by Armando Lopes, after Henrique’s cross from the left, to finish off at the bottom of the goal.
The formation coached by Zé Pedro shot again at the Minho goal, by Chico Teixeira, in the 16th minute, but the locals reacted by pushing the game into the opposing midfield thanks to the actions of winger Gonçalo Teixeira and striker Edmilson.
After the threat of the spearhead, in a shot from outside the area, in minute 27, Vilaverdense, from Liga 3, tied three minutes later, with Gonçalo Teixeira ‘shooting’ without opposition, after a pass from Armando Lopes from the left.
Marked by several interruptions, the first half ended with the penalty sanctioned for a foul by Joyce on Eduardo Ageu, at 45+8, which João Marcos took and Ivo Gonçalves saved, at 45+11.
João Marcos shot at the Minho goal early in the second half, twice, in the 47th and 49th minute, but the home team was even more dangerous in the response, with Gonçalo Tabuaço denying the goal to Brian Cipenga, in the minute 53, and André Soares, 56 years old.
The formation led by Ricardo Silva maintained territorial control until the 79th minute, when Yannick brought down Samuel Lobato and was sent off for accumulating yellow cards, but BSAD failed to take advantage of their numerical superiority to upset Minho’s defence.
BSAD and Vilaverdense will play the decisive second leg of the play-off on June 11, starting at 5:00 p.m., at the Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior.
