The Colombian footballer Matheus Uribe, who will play for Al-Sadd, in Qatar, for the next three seasons, after leaving FC Porto at the end of his contract after four seasons, thanked the ‘Porto family’ on Monday for the treatment he received.
“I am invaded by a feeling of nostalgia for this stage that is coming to an end, but extremely grateful for having enjoyed this incredible moment together and now being part of the history of this great club,” Uribe launched through social networks.
The 32-year-old midfielder, capped 45 times with Colombia, made his official debut at another club the day after winning the Portuguese Cup for the ‘blue and whites’, in the final against Sporting de Braga (2-0).
“Many thanks to the FC Porto family for the love they have always shown me,” he launched, with thanks addressed to President Pinto da Costa, coach Sérgio Conceição, teammates and supporters.
Al-Sadd announced today that they have signed Uribe for three years, starting in 2023/24.
“It has been our home and it is a dream to be part of this great institution for four years full of happiness, with great professional growth, but above all personal. I leave behind a better human being and without a doubt I take with me the best memories of this great country,” said the South American.
Uribe scored 15 goals and six assists in the 176 games played with FC Porto in the last four seasons, in which they won two editions of the I Liga, three Portuguese Cups, two Cândido de Oliveira Super Cups and one League Cup.
Hired in the summer of 2019 from the Mexican side of America, in an operation valued at 9.5 million euros, Uribe repeats the footsteps of the once influential Yacine Brahimi, Héctor Herrera, Vincent Aboubakar, Moussa Marega and Chancel Mbemba, who left the national runners-up. -Until the end of the contract in recent years, without generating benefits.
