Borussia Dortmund announced an agreement in principle with Real Madrid on Wednesday for the transfer of English footballer Jude Bellingham to the Spanish club, which will pay 103 million euros (ME).
In a statement on the official website, the German vice-champion says the midfielder is “on the verge of a transfer to Real Madrid”, and that the deal is pending “confirmation of contractual details”.
According to Borussia, Real Madrid ‘will pay a fixed transfer fee of 103 ME’in a company of which another 30% depends in variable amounts (about 31 ME) on the sports performance of the meringues and the player himself. That is, the German emblem will be able to raise almost 135 ME for the transaction.
Bellingham, who will turn 20 at the end of this month, was loaned to Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham for 30 ME in 2020, establishing himself as one of the key players of the ‘auri-negros’, adding 132 appearances and 24 goals in three seasons.
He was voted the Bundesliga’s best player in the season that has now ended, in which Borussia ultimately failed to take the title in the final round of the competition after being overtaken by Bayern Munich on top of goal.
The midfielder, who has also played 24 caps for England, is Real Madrid’s second signing for the 2023/24 season, along with Rayo Vallecano left-back Fran García.
