Celta de Vigo, from Portuguese coach Carlos Carvalhal, confirmed Haris Seferovic’s return to Benfica on Friday, after the Swiss footballer represented the Spanish club in 2022/23 on loan from the ‘eagles’.
31-year-old Swiss striker Haris Seferovic, who joined Luz from German club Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2017/18 season, has a contract with Benfica until 2024 and his future is now in the hands of the ‘red’ management.
Celta de Vigo, who finished 13th in the Spanish league, with 43 points, 45 behind champions FC Barcelona, also announced the return to their home clubs of striker Carles Pérez (Rome) and defender Óscar Rodriguez (Seville).

After a ‘shy’ first season at Benfica, Seferovic claimed the top scorer title in the I Liga in 2018/19, with 23 goals, a feat he almost repeated in 2020/21, finishing second (22), after causing him to lose space in the team.
In 2021/22, the Swiss striker played in just 15 games for the ‘eagles’, scoring five goals. In 2022/23 he was loaned to the Turkish Galatasaray (13 games and two goals) and later to Celta de Vigo (18 and three).
