The central defender and captain of Benfica, Nicolás Otamendi, has renewed his contract with the reds until 2025, the club revealed this Friday.
“Sport Lisboa e Benfica and the central defender Nicolás Otamendi have agreed to a contract renewal for two seasons. The new contract for the captain of the national champion team is valid until June 2025,” read a statement. post posted tonight for the eagles
At the age of 35, the Argentine came to Luz in 2020/21 from Manchester City. In his debut season at La Luz, he played 38 games, making 43 in the following season and 46 in the one that now ends -and it was also the last of the contract-, scoring two goals and signing an assist.
Educated in Vélez Sarsfield, he left Argentina in 2010 to join FC Porto, where he spent three and a half seasons. He also represented Atlético Mineiro and Valencia.
