Portugal begins to prepare the welcome to Bosnia in the debut of Toti Gomes

The Portuguese soccer team starts this Tuesday to prepare for Saturday’s duel with Bosnia-Hrzegovina, from the Euro2024 qualifying phase, with a training session at the Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras.

The team led by the Spanish coach Roberto Martínez has scheduled a session at 6:00 p.m., with the first 15 minutes being open to the media. Earlier, at 5:15 p.m., also at the Cidade do Futebol, a player to be designated will be present at a press conference.

In a list of 26 called up, again ‘headed’ by captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who could reach 200 ‘AA’ caps in this double journey, the big surprise is the debut of defender Toti Gomes, from Wolverhampton, with Nélson Semedo , Renato Sanches and Ricardo Horta return to work with the national team.

The European champions last Saturday with Manchester City, Rúben Dias and Bernardo Silva could later arrive at the concentration in Portugal.

Pepe also stands out, who missed the first two qualifiers for the 2024 Euro Cup due to injury, and who will work for the first time with the new coach Roberto Martínez.

Portugal hosts Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday at Estádio da Luz, in Lisbon, at 7:45 p.m., and heads to Iceland to face the local team three days later, at Estádio Laugardalsvöllur, in Reykjavik, at 7:00 p.m. :45 hours (Lisbon time) .

At the start of the tie, in the two games that marked Martínez’s absolute debut in charge of the team, Portugal beat Liechtenstein, 4-0, at the Estádio José Alvalade, in Lisbon, and went to Luxembourg to score 6 -0.

The ‘quinas’ team leads Group J with six points, followed by Slovakia, which has four, and Bosnia and Iceland, both with three. Luxembourg, with a single point, and Liechtenstein, with no points, occupy the penultimate and last place, respectively.

Only the top two of the group qualify for the final round of Euro 2024, which will take place in Germany.
