Twitter extends reading limits on Saturday posts

The owner of Twitter decided to extend the limits imposed on Saturday to the reading of publications by each user, pointing out this Sunday the “irony” that the ‘tweet’ with that announcement has become the most read to date.

On Saturday, entrepreneur Elon Musk announced that the social network Twitter has temporarily imposed daily limits on the number of posts a user can read, claiming to prevent “extreme levels of data collection and system manipulation.”

In a ‘tweet’ published on Saturday and which today is the most widely read on this social network, the owner of Twitter reported that “verified accounts” could read up to “6,000 posts per day”, while “unverified accounts” could read 600. and in the case of “unverified new accounts” it would be 300 messages.

In that announcement, the businessman noted that these limits could “soon” be raised to 8,000, 800, and 400, respectively.

Within hours, Elon Musk moved forward with the changes, increasing the limits to 10,000 posts for verified accounts, 1,000 for unverified accounts, and 500 for new unverified accounts.

Regardless, the initial announcement of reading limits for Twitter posts caused an “uproar” on the social network, with many users reporting problems accessing content.

The first publication of the owner of Twitter on the imposition of limits accumulated, between Saturday afternoon and this Sunday morning, more than 455 million readings.

“In another exercise of irony, this publication achieved a record of visits!” Said the businessman, who sarcastically commented in another message how users were reaching the reading limits “by reading above the limits” and complaining about the measure.

According to the Downdetector monitoring page, the problems with access to the social network reached their peak after the initial announcement, with some 7,000 complaints, but the situation normalized throughout the day and this Sunday morning they did not exceed 1,000. complaints.

In addition, Musk shared a message from a parody account that said, on why he imposed these limits: “We are all addicted to Twitter and we have to get out.”

The owner of Twitter also made a comment today to suggest this idea: “You wake up from a deep trance, you walk away from the phone to see your friends and family.”
