Several social networks of the Meta group seem to be working poorly this Friday, July 7. On Instagram, Messenger or even the new Threads app, several users do not post content, be it photos or videos.
The participatory site DownDetector, which allows netizens to report outages online, has posted more than 160 incidents since around 11 am this Friday, July 7 on Instagram. Just over 120 have been reported on the Messenger side.
It seems that it is possible to access social networks, both in its mobile and web versions. The dysfunction is at the publication level. Videos, like photos, are affected, whether they are “regular” posts or ephemeral stories. Internet users also claim that they cannot send private messages.
On Twitter, Internet users share the hashtag #InstagramDown. Since the Threads app is directly linked to Instagram, its failure is probably due to the latter’s malfunction. In Messenger, it is currently impossible to send messages or more specifically images and videos.
The moment is a bit tight for the Meta group. In fact, the Threads app was launched just a few days ago, as an explicit competitor to Twitter. It already has more than 30 million users.
At this time, the nature of the failure is unknown.
