Google Maps allows you to create custom travel maps. A practical function to organize a stay or share the location of a place visited with your loved ones during your summer holidays.
Google Maps is packed with useful features. Non content of your guide from a point A to a point B, or of your permission to deny the best restaurants of your region, the Google navigation service also offers the possibility of creating a personnalised card on the side of your pleasure option.
Once the operation is done, you can share it with family members, include annotations and photos, or even specify the best route to get to the indicated places. Creating a personalized card is only possible in an Internet browser, from a computer. You also need to make sure that you are signed in to your Google account to access it.
- Go to Google Maps
- Click on “Saved Addresses” in the menu on the left
- Click on “Maps” in the menu that appears
- Tap “Open My Maps”
- Choose the “Create a map” tab
- Click on “Untitled Map”
- Press “Save” after giving the map a name and adding a description
Embed locations in a custom map
- Type an address in the search bar
- Click “Add to Map” to drop a pin at your chosen location
- The marker is placed on your map as a blue icon. You can add a photo to it by clicking on the icon in the form of‘camera
Provide a custom route to a location
- Select the “Draw a line” icon
- Indicate if it is a route by car, by bicycle or on foot or if you just want to draw a line
- Click on the map at the desired location to define the starting point of the route. Release the mouse button, and then drag the pointer over the path you want to take. The graph is done automatically and is displayed in blue. Press the “Enter” key on the keyboard to end the trace
Share your custom map
- Select “Preview” from the menu on the left of the screen
- Click “Share” in the new tab that appears
