“A higher level of efficiency”: Humanoid robots claim they would run the world better than humans

The first press conference held by humanoid robots took place this Friday in Switzerland. The event was organized by the United Nations.

Humans asking robots questions. The scene may surprise you, but that was what happened this Friday, July 7, in Geneva, Switzerland. During the World Summit on Artificial Intelligence for Good, nine humanoid robots held a press conference in front of a panel of journalists. The event was presented for the first time and organized by the United Nations.

Questions naturally centered on the capabilities of these robots, eight of the nine of which could move and express themselves without human intervention. The best known of the humanoids, Sophia, made a particular point that her companions would make the best rulers in the world.

Vigilance and caution around AI

He justified himself by explaining that robots do not have “the same prejudices and emotions, which can sometimes cloud decision-making.”

Grace, a model designed for the medical sector, wanted to reassure about the replacement of humans at work by machines. “I will work alongside humans to provide assistance and support and will not replace any existing work,” she said.

However, the conference allowed the nine humanoids to warn those present. Therefore, they warned that humans should be careful around artificial intelligence. According to the robots, humanity must be vigilant and cautious regarding the development of this technology.

But despite their supposed superiority, humanoids should not overthrow humans. Asked about their ability to seize power, one of the nine robots present clarified that there was no risk of them rebelling against humans. At least without prior agreement.
