‘Angel of Death’: This Fake Hitman Scam Is Spreading the Web

An email has been released in France claiming to ask for a large sum of money in exchange for saving lives. This is a scam attempt.

Many Internet users have detected a campaign of alarmist and fraudulent emails. This is an email claiming to be from a hit man nicknamed “the angel of death”, or “Krill” according to the emails, who has been tasked with killing you.

This is not the case: the email was sent to hundreds of people with the aim of extorting money from them. The government website dedicated to cybermalice reported on July 11 about this scam, a sign that the campaign has gained momentum.

The email states that it has accurate information about the target’s habits, routes, etc. He offers, in exchange for “a large sum of money,” to cancel the contract and reveal the name of the person who ordered it.

Here is an example of one of these emails, which are usually very similar:

Don’t panic, this is indeed a scam. If you receive this type of email, you should not reply to it at all, but simply report it to avoid claiming more victims. To do this, it is possible to report it on Signal Spam, as well as on the government platform, Pharos.

If you have ever been a victim of the scam, you will need to contact your bank and keep proof of the email exchange and payment. You can also file a complaint and contact the Info Scams platform to help you with the necessary procedures.
