Once again, the DGCCRF (General Directorate for Competition, Consumption and Fraud Repression) wants to mark the occasion. On July 20, the French administration issued several warnings against Instagram influencers, starting with Julien Bert and Rym Renom, who made themselves known on reality shows. Both have around two million subscribers on the platform.

Among the main complaints: promotional posts for business partners that do not present themselves as such to subscribers. “Any publication (posts and stories) related to a paid commercial association must allow the identification of its commercial intention and the person in whose name it is made,” recalls the DGCCRF.
In addition, the Suppression of Fraud accuses Julien Bert of having illegally promoted commercial services, while promising “certain and regular profits”. A deception to the consumer, in the eyes of the administration.
The two influencers have thus received a precautionary measure to put an end to these practices, as has Laura Agogue, known under the account @mam_active (135,000 Instagram subscribers), who is also accused of placing hidden advertising on the network.
These public mandates follow the government’s desire to “name out” influential people who break the rules. In recent weeks, the DGCCRF has publicly singled out Capucine Anav, Anthony Mathéo, Gaetan Debled and Léa Montchicourt.
These warnings come after the promulgation of the new law that regulates the work of influencers, specifically the promotions of certain services such as aesthetic medicine or betting.
So far, Instagram has not penalized any of the influencers who have resorted to these illegal practices aimed at deceiving the French users of the platform.
