Endless shoe boxes have accumulated for several weeks in the living room of Anca Nitu, a Canadian living in British Columbia, a province in the west of the country. Anca Nitu finds herself in quite a funny situation, as she receives new packages every day, each containing shoes that she has never ordered.
In total, more than fifty packages accumulate in his house, the victim of a hoax found by certain resellers. Because in the packages, there is no address error: all the packages are destined for the address of Anca Nitu, who has seen that his house has become an address attached to the Amazon order return receipts, as he explained to the Canadian media CBC.
Avoid Amazon warehouses
And according to the Better Business Bureau, a nonprofit organization specializing in consumer law, this technique is used by third-party resellers, usually based in Asia, to avoid paying handling fees through Amazon warehouses. Choosing a private residential address would allow resellers to pay for shipping and overseas returns processing at fulfillment centers.
The fact is that at the moment Anca Nitu has not found any solution to solve this problem, Amazon has not given a concrete answer to their requests. The Canadian company is also in conflict with UPS, which sends it invoices related to the cash-on-delivery payment technique. This payment method allows customers to pay for their purchases upon receipt of the package.
Except that Anca Nitu has so far refused to pay all the bills, for a total time of about 300 Canadian dollars (just over 200 euros). You also need to find solutions to get rid of these bulky packages. Some of the pairs of shoes were donated to colleagues, while others were donated to the Goodwill charity.
Amazon, however, specifies to the CBC that it has implemented measures to solve this problem, a fact that Anca Nitu refutes. The American company also invites people in the same situation, or who would even receive a package by mistake, to report the unwanted package on the platform.
