Tank top, cap, and tattooed bulging muscles. Thomas Saintvoirin aka @tscarrelage is a hit on TikTok with more than 180,000 subscribers. The first video was posted in January 2020 and since then some have received millions of views. One of them even reached 8 million views.
Using the codes of the Chinese social network, the artisan films himself in action, adds background music and ends up staging the result.
He explains the success of his account by “regularly making videos to post a lot of content” and thus pushing the algorithms to get his videos highlighted.
“A lot of work”
TikTok brings him a “small remuneration”, but in the end very little “taking into account the time invested” in creating content, the creator confesses.
His TikTok account also aims to encourage young people to move towards the profession of tiler, which is going through a true vocations crisis.
Craft trades are having real success on the platform, very often professionals recording themselves in their daily lives. Like Aldo Peaucelle, a restorer of paintings, or Kelly Cruz, a tiler followed by 2.6 million subscribers.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Crafts, social networks especially promote orientation towards the construction, cooking and pastry trades.
