For the first time, Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, saw its turnover fall in the latest quarterly results. In an attempt to reassure investors in the face of fierce competition from TikTok, Instagram has decided to multiply sources of income. Last solution: add advertising in the few corners of the application that were still preserved.
Two types of advertising
Like Instagram’s ad on its site dedicated to advertisers, two types of ads are coming soon. First, advertising directly integrated into the user’s profile. When a user goes to a user profile and clicks on a post, the rest of the post’s content appears by scrolling the images or videos from top to bottom. It is this thread that will soon be adorned with new announcements.
“Profile Feed Ads give advertisers the opportunity to easily grow their audience using the strengths of the existing feed, while giving people the same personalized ad experience they enjoy on their main feed,” referring to ads that are already displayed when scrolling through the News Feed.
The other type of advertising that will be implemented refers to the “Explore” page of the application, accessible by the icon symbolizing a magnifying glass, which allows you to search for publications. Here again, the advertising will come directly to the results, which take the form of a grid of images.
