Back to basics for Facebook. For several years, the social network has been harshly criticized for its algorithms that highlight unwanted content and relegate family posts to the background. However, it is this second point that made all the value of Facebook in its infancy.
The platform seeks to return control to its users. To achieve this, a new feature now appears in suggested posts with a “See More” and “See Less” button. By selecting “See more”, the user will show more content of this type. By selecting “see less” the user chooses to reduce content of this type.
Specifically, the order in which posts appear in the news feed is based on a ranking score performed by artificial intelligence. Through this new functionality, it is up to the user to intervene in this classification.
Towards even greater customization
This feature will only be available occasionally on certain posts. But the option will be available from the three dots in the tab bar at the top of the post, as is currently the case with the “Hide Post” feature. Facebook will also test the feature on Reels.
Additionally, the platform is working on a feature that allows you to customize the amount of content that can appear in the news feed. In the Preferences menu, the user can adjust the posts that are displayed, if he sees too much content from a particular person or group that he is subscribed to this time.
