Who hasn’t dreamed of playing cupid and advising their loved ones in their love life? Now the Tinder dating app allows it. Thanks to its “Friend Test” function (“the approval of a loved one” in French), you will soon be able to recommend profiles to a Tinder user.
How does it work ?
A Tinder user can invite up to 15 friends or family members, whether or not they have a Tinder profile. They can connect to the app as guests (after verifying age and agreeing to Tinder’s terms).
The matchmakers then have 24 hours, no more, to suggest profiles for a possible “match.” Without being able to chat or send messages to interested people. Once the 24-hour session has expired, the Tinder user has the option to view profiles recommended by their friends.
The social network specifies that the user remains “owner of his choices” and that, ultimately, he decides whether he wants to send a “like” or not.
And although the use of this function is intended for friends and family, it is not impossible for your mother, your father or another very close relative to suggest a profile for you (if you have given them access).
“Facilitate discussions”
According to a survey published by research team OnePoll, more than 75% of single people surveyed say they talk about their love life with their friends several times a month. “Now we’re making it easier,” Melissa Hobley, Tinder’s chief marketing officer, said in a press release.
Tinder specifies that the functionality is now available in 15 countries such as France, Germany, the United Kingdom and the United States. The social network aims for a “global” expansion in the coming months.
