Is Elon Musk’s support for Ukraine sincere or is it a communication trick? This is the question asked by a CNN article, revealing that the head of SpaceX no longer wanted to pay to help Ukraine. For several months, SpaceX’s satellite internet connection service, called Starlink, has been activated in the country to help the army communicate, despite the destruction of conventional telecommunications infrastructure. But according to a letter revealed by CNN, SpaceX now wants the US authorities to pay the bill for the service, which will rise to 400 million dollars over the next twelve months.
“Starlink could disappear”
Information that greatly irritated Elon Musk: Despite the financial participation of many countries to deploy Starlink in Ukraine, he is great that SpaceX finances Ukrainian communications with its own funds to the tune of $20 million per month. On Twitter he multiplied the tweets to evoke the sincerity of his support for Ukraine.
“Starlink is the main means of communication for the Ukrainian army on the front lines. If someone wants the job, take it.” joked Musk, after making sure all other systems were down.
Statements that, apparently, have calmed the exchanges with the Ukrainian power. After being insulted by officials in the country for proposing a peace plan based on Russian demands, Elon Musk was finally received by the Ukrainian deputy prime minister, also in charge of digital, Mykhailo Fedorov.
A message hailed by Elon Musk, who thanked him for this clarification.
