Cybersecurity: 2024 brings new European rules

The evolution of European legislation on cybersecurity will be discussed at the conference “Cybersecurity: impacts of the NIS2 Directive for companies and the public sector”, an initiative organized by TSF and by Diário de Notícias, at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

With the new directive that member states must transpose before October 2024, new challenges are posed to the management of public and private institutions, since it requires reinforcing the implementation of rigorous security controls to reduce risks and prevent damage to systems and data.

NIS2 is nothing more than an update to existing community rules, but will impose rigorous risk management, using appropriate technical measures and requirements covering a wide range of IT systems and resources, including protecting environments against ransomware, phishing and unauthorized access.

To find out if Portugal will be prepared to implement NIS2, the round table will have as speakers Lino Santos, president of the National Cybersecurity Center, Hugo Costeira, president of the Security Observatory, Joana Mota Agostinho, partner at Cuatrecasas, Jorge Libório, Cyber partner Security EY, Miguel Prata Roque, PhD Professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon, Ricardo Costa, director of the CIP and the Minho Business Association and representative of the National Association of Municipalities, moderated by Rosália Amorim.

A conference that will be broadcast live on December 14, at 10 a.m., on tsf.pt and dn.pt.
