GTA 5: hackers claim the distribution of the game’s source code

After the data leak about GTA 6, Rockstar Games is once again the target of hackers. This time it is GTA 5 that is in play.

Rockstar Games continues to suffer the consequences of cyberattacks. After the trailer for the sixth installment of the series was stolen Grand Theft Auto A few hours after its initial broadcast, the studio is now facing the leak of the GTA 5 source code, claimed and published on Telegram by a man named “Phil”, indicates the specialized media ringing computer.

A (poisoned) Christmas present ahead of its time, echoing last year’s “historical trick.” One of the members of the Lapsus$ group, Arion Kurtaj, had already revealed part of the GTA 5 source code.

The pirate had also claimed part of the GTA 6 source code. Demo and gameplay footage spread on social media and messaging sites. The 18-year-old, found guilty of several waves of computer hacking, was admitted to a secure hospital by British justice.

But this first leak of the source code only revealed a small part of the elements that Arion Kurtaj had obtained. The other elements remained secret. This new data leak is, therefore, the result of the sequence of events. Links to download the text file were shared on numerous Telegram channels, Discord and on a dark website.

In addition to the complete GTA 5 source code, the email addresses of 1,158 Rockstar Games employees have been leaked according to GTA 5 Focal, an X account (ex-Twitter), specialized in issues related to the Grand Theft Auto franchise. Data related to the development of Bully 2, which is supposed to be the continuation of Bully, a title developed and published by Rockstar in 2006, is also affected.
