At the beginning of the year, the president of Square Enix, Takashi Kiryu, decided to attack with force, remembering the need to sustainably involve the company in the future. In a letter addressed to his employees, we see a little more clearly the desire of the Japanese publisher, behind Final Fantasy XVI, to use the technologies of tomorrow.
The CEO thus announces his desire to focus on generative artificial intelligence, in a way “aggressive”. Therefore, the idea would be to apply it in development areas, for example in content creation, but also in editing.
“Reimagine” creative processes
If Takashi Kiryu knows that the use of artificial intelligence is “subject to debate”points out, however, that the arrival of ChatGPT and other similar programs could allow “not just reinventing what we create, but also fundamentally changing the processes with which we create, including programming.” and this, in the short term.
In a few years, Square Enix also hopes to evolve its “in-house” technologies to offer “new forms of content” for the players. Therefore, we understand that the publisher’s objective is no longer just to create video games, but to develop its own solutions to maximize profits and satisfy fans of its numerous licenses.
For several months now, in particular after the resale of its western activitiesSquare Enix had accentuated its desire to establish itself sustainably in the blockchain field, but also NFTsAND from the metaverse. A real change of direction for the publisher, which has not yet produced convincing and perceptible results for fans.
