Following a formal notice from the ANFR, the OnePlus 7 Pro is updated to limit its waves

Accused by the National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) of exceeding the limit value of its SAR, OnePlus has updated its OnePlus 7 Pro to comply with the French standard.

DAS: a word that we see appear with every smartphone launch, with every ad, but which, in the end, doesn’t mean much to many.

However, this Specific Absorption Rate is of vital importance for the human body: it indicates the amount of electromagnetic waves absorbed by the human body near a smartphone, according to defined areas (trunk, extremities), and this, for waves between 100 kHz and 10GHz.

And that is why the National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) carries out regular checks on mobile phones offered for sale in France to ensure their conformity.

OnePlus drastically reduces its emitted waves

The last to be slapped on the knuckles, the OnePlus 7 Pro recorded a rate that was too high in the “members” category (4.42 W/kg while the limit is 4 W/kg).

Therefore, the Chinese manufacturer has been notified to correct the emissions of its smartphone to bring it into compliance.

OnePlus has therefore reduced the power of its high-end device released in 2019 and still on sale. Through a system upgrade, the member’s SAR drops to 2.33 W/kg, well below the regulatory limit, ANFR said in a press release. Users only need to update to take advantage of the fix.

You should know that the standards required by the European Union are different from those applied in the United States (1.6 W/kg for trunk SAR, for example). And the calculation often results in different figures for the same smartphone. In question, the test frequency used, the configuration of the networks or the transmission mode (3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, etc.).
