“Paris Public Transport 2024” will be the name of the application dedicated to public travel during the Paris Olympic Games, which will begin on July 26, 2024, and will end on September 8 with the Paralympic Games. The launch, previously planned for April, will finally occur in May 2024 on iOS and Android.
For the Île-de-France region, this is a necessity, since in addition to ongoing conversations with private navigation applications (such as Google Maps and Apple Plans), the goal is to offer a path to viewers, as for Ile -from-France. -Residents in France, to travel to the capital while the Games are taking place.
A real challenge, as there are numerous staff shortages, threats of strikes and problems on the lines. Valérie Pécresse, president of the region, revealed the main points of this application that aims to be multitasking.
Eliminate “automatisms”
First element to remember, the transport plan will be integrated in real time into the Paris 2024 public transport application with the aim of “eliminating automatisms” linked to the habits of the residents of Ile-de-France. To this end, alternative routes will be proposed, always with the aim of limiting transport congestion: “The routes we propose are appropriate,” insisted Valérie Pécresse. In addition, we will be able to know in real time if a route is congested or not.
For example, if the subway is crowded, spectators will be invited to travel on foot or on free shuttles if they have a ticket for the Olympic Games, in particular for “stations and certain remote locations”, such as the nautical stadium of Vaires-sur-marne or Roland Garros. Other uses will be reinforced, in particular Vélib and Véligo, with 2,000 new electric bicycles in circulation.
The application will be offered in six languages: French, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian and German.

Public transport Paris 2024 will also allow spectators and residents of the Ile-de-France region to purchase their more expensive transport tickets directly from the app.
Single tickets, weekly tickets, monthly tickets, everything will be possible and accessible from a smartphone, as long as iPhone compatibility with the various gates and terminals of Île-de-France is available. This is scheduled for early summer, although it has been promised for several years.
Additionally, you can bookmark locations where events will take place to be quickly directed to the best route, while receiving alerts about traffic information. Therefore, in case of a problem, the application should advise you as best as possible, favoring the lines with greater capacity (for example, metro 14, RER A and D or Transilien H).
