Medicines, praise for Vladimir Putin: Internet users discover in the advertisements his “double” in AI

Several people have expressed shock after their faces were used to promote erection-friendly products and to praise Vladimir Putin.

Artificial intelligence is once again involved in multiple cases of identity theft. According to a survey published by the Washington PostWomen have had their faces “stolen” for the sole purpose of generating their digital double through artificial intelligence.

By training the algorithm using photographs or videos posted on social media by victims, the authors of the AI-produced content were able to use their faces to deliver politicized speeches or promote medical products, such as pills to facilitate erections in men. .

A video larger than life.

It was the Christian influencer Michel Janse who raised the alarm when he discovered with surprise that he had become the image of an advertisement about erectile dysfunction broadcast on YouTube.

In this video, we were able to see her in her real bedroom, dressed in her real clothes, but with an AI-generated speech, which claimed that her husband suffered from erectile dysfunction.

According to the newspaper, the authors of this ad used the influencer’s image and then generative artificial intelligence to take her voice and face through a deepfake and force her to say what they wanted.

This is not the first time that a personality has had their voice and image stolen to sell scams. More recently, Taylor Swift was the unwilling actress in a fake advertisement for a contest used to recover the banking details of gullible fans.

Another example is that of Olga Loeik, a 20-year-old student who lives in Pennsylvania. She tells her newspaper that she was “cloned” using AI to appear in several thousand videos on Chinese social media. In these videos, she speaks Mandarin, a language that the young woman does not know and which is falsely from Ukraine. She praises Russia and President Vladimir Putin.

To create these videos, the Washington Post reveals that tools from HeyGen and Eleven Labs were used. These companies did not want to comment.
