Is Google looking to run the upcoming US election? In any case, this is the opinion of the Republican Party, whose National Committee (RNC) has announced a complaint against the technology giant. According to the Conservative Party, Google removed the election ads sent by email, just weeks before the midterm elections, which will take place on November 8.
In detail, Republicans claim that Gmail knowingly sends these emails to users’ spam, especially in battleground states. “Enough is enough! We are suing Google for its blatant bias against Republicans,” RNC President Ronna McDaniel said in a statement to The Associated Press.
Google denies the charges
In a statement, Google dismissed the allegations.
Therefore, the test will focus on how Google, which claims to have 1.5 billion users, accurately filters emails. If the Californian group claims that the algorithms are unbiased, a North Carolina State University study, published last March and broadcast by NBC, showed that emails from conservative candidates were much more likely to end up in spam. By contrast, competitors Yahoo and Outlook tended to filter out progressive candidates.
