Naturopaths or hypnotherapists will soon have to do without Doctolib. On October 26, the French leader in medical appointment booking announced new measures to better regulate the list of doctors available on its platform. From now on, only professionals registered in the shared directory of health professionals (RPPS) or with an ADELI number will be accepted. Two references recognized by Health Insurance.
This decision follows numerous criticisms from health professionals towards Doctolib, which currently offers appointments with doctors such as naturopaths or hypnotherapists, whose practice is legal but who do not have recognized medical training.
5700 practitioners involved
In fact, this decision affects 5,700 practitioners in France. The latter have six months to organize themselves, before Doctolib definitively cuts off their access to their appointments.
“There is no objective and exhaustive means of defining and verifying the level of qualification of professionals who carry out welfare activities, as is possible for regulated professions”, acknowledges Doctolib despite everything, in a press release.
In addition to doctors and pharmacists, other professions are recognized by the French health authorities and may continue to offer their appointments. These include (among others) psychologists, midwives, masseurs-physiotherapists, nurses, podiatrists-podiatrists, but also speech therapists, chiropractors, opticians and dieticians.
With BFMTV, Doctolib specifies that a health professional recognized by Health Insurance can always offer expertise related to wellness, for example, in naturopathy.
