macOS Ventura is available on MacBook and iMac: what will you find there and how to install it?

Apple has launched the deployment of its new operating system for computers. macOS Ventura brings more possibilities to MacBooks and other iMacs, particularly in continuity with the iPhone and iPad.

Since Monday, October 24, Apple has started the deployment of macOS Ventura, its new operating system for computers.

This brings really new features to MacBooks and other iMacs in particular, but also improvements to certain home applications.

What’s new in macOS Ventura

The Preferences menu is renewed

When pressing the Apple menu, the Preferences part now turns System settings… The whole look changes. Finished the visualization by icons, we approach the drop-down menu of the iPhone and iPad with line inputs. An easier way to switch between tabs.

Internship Manager

Also expected on iPad, Stage Manager is a new way to organize your apps to make viewing more refined and simple. Applications are aligned to the left, grouped into mini windows, while the main window appears large on the desktop. This makes it possible to create multiple workspaces with multiple simultaneous tasks and to declutter the desktop. Windows can be resized, overlapped, or switched from one application to another.

The iPhone becomes a webcam for your Mac

A new Continuity feature is coming to the Mac Camera. If you have an iPhone XR or later running iOS 16, the camera will be able to turn into a webcam for a computer. The iPhone is automatically detected as soon as it is nearby. No need to plug in, Desk View uses the ultra-wide sensor on the back to simultaneously display the user’s face and a bird’s-eye view of the desktop.

This will be very useful for demonstrations, presentations of objects in front of you, or presentations of activities. This capability will boost the FaceTime cameras on slightly older MacBooks and iMacs by enabling options like Portrait mode, improved face lighting with adjusted backlight brightness, and center frame tracking technology.

Note that the Handoff option, which allows you to switch from one Apple device to another in continuity, is added to FaceTime to start a call on an iPhone, for example, and continue it on a Mac without cutting off the conversation.

Mail and Messages play in collaboration

As in iOS 16, it is now possible to edit a message after sending it or unsend it to mark it as unread. Sharing and sharing with friends also becomes easier by sharing notes or presentations, Safari tabs. Updates are reported as soon as a member of the group modifies the contents.

Mail is also taking a big leap in usage. Apple now allows to remember a sent email, schedule sending, add rich links. The mailbox can also report a possible missing item (attachment, recipient on copy of a reply, etc.). As with Gmail, it is possible to set reminders to process the message later or to follow up. Search also becomes more relevant to better find a message, document, or contact.

Identification keys for Safari

Security is reinforced with the arrival of identification keys, an end-to-end encrypted option to better identify the user. The idea is to eventually replace passwords by relying on Touch ID (and probably later Face ID), fingerprint recognition. A finger on the reader and the manipulation is validated. This is intended to limit phishing and identity theft attempts by verifying access codes by biometric means.

Safari is also enriched with tabbed collaboration options that can be shared with friends or groups of friends.

And also…

The application House You are entitled to a global review to better view your connected devices and manage them on a room-by-room basis. And macOS is now also compatible with Matter, the future protocol applied in home automation to standardize the compatibilities of all players (Google, Apple, Amazon, Samsung, etc. in mind) and products. apple photos detects duplicates and iCloud Photos can now share your files with 5 other people. Weather and Clock apps are coming to Mac. stand out you can find photos in all applications like on the internet, but also text in photos stored on your computer. You can also start a timer.
