After Deezer and Apple Music users, Spotify customers should also see their bill increase in the coming months. In an interview given to Wall Street JournalDaniel Ek, head of the Swedish company, announces price increases for 2023, without specifying their scope and the exact date of their implementation.
In France, the standard subscription is currently billed at €9.99 per month, compared to €15.99 for the family version, which allows six users to benefit from the service, and €4.99 for the student rate .
Is the standard subscription still below 10 euros?
In 2021, Spotify increased the price in some European countries -but not in France-, raising the price of the family subscription to 17.99 euros in the affected areas and that of the student subscription to 5.99 euros. The standard subscription was not affected.
If Spotify applied these same increases in France next year, maintaining the standard subscription, the platform would manage to keep its most popular offer below ten euros. A price identical to that of YouTube Music, but lower than that of Apple Music and Deezer, both of which recently increased their prices to place the cursor at 10.99 euros per month.
On October 26, the streaming music leader released its quarterly financial results. It currently has 195 million paying subscribers worldwide, for a total of 456 million users, including the content of Internet users with its free ad-supported offer.
