Since June, Sony has replaced its old PlayStation Plus subscription format with a new version of the same name, also available to all owners of PS4 or PS5 consoles. But the service now comes in three subscription tiers, with benefits evolving.
Three subscription levels
This is the basic package that takes over from the old PlayStation Plus. Provides access to various games offered each month, to download and add to your game library. They remain accessible while the subscription is in progress. Sony also offers access to online games (cooperative, multiplayer or to share certain games with friends who do not have them), cloud storage space to save your games (100 GB), discounts and exclusive content on the PS Store , the console store, and gives the possibility of obtaining aid for home games.
For PS5 owners, this subscription level allows you to play around twenty hit PS4 titles for free (God of War, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Fallout 4…).
Includes all the benefits of the Essential level. But its great added value is the catalog of games it offers: more than 400 PS4 and PS5 games are thus available for download. It includes in particular the greatest hits of the PlayStation (The Last of Us, Days Gone, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Strandingetc.), but also emblematic titles from external publishers (Mortal Kombat 11, NBA 2K22, Batman: Arkham Knight, Death, etc.). Added to this is access to Ubisoft+ Classic games, a selection of emblematic titles from the French video game giant (the franchises assassin’s Creed Y Far Cry, The Division, The Crew, Watch Dogs….).
PlayStation Plus Premium
The highest level of the service will obviously offer everything that Sony has in its pocket. We find all the cumulative advantages of the first two levels and also the possibility of playing by download or streaming even older PlayStation games (PS1, PS2, PS3 and the PSP handheld console).
The new PlayStation Plus subscription was born from the merger of the two old Sony subscriptions, PlayStation Plus (first name) and PlayStation Now, which notably offered older games to play after downloading or streaming them from your console (PS1, PS2, PS3 and the PSP handheld console), but also possibly on a computer. The PS Plus Premium takes over this streaming game feature, with the ability to play PS4 games without downloading as well.
This expensive package (€16.99 per month) also offers players trial versions of recent games (Horizon Forbidden West, Lego City Uncover, Cyberpunk 2077, Death Stranding, etc.), with a defined time (1h to 5h) during which it is possible to try for free. If you later purchase the game, you can keep your save game and continue.
PlayStation Plus subscription starts at €8.99 per month for the Essential level (€24.99 per quarter or €59.99 for 12 months).
The PlayStation Plus Extra is offered at €13.99 per month or €39.99 for three months or €99.99 for one year.
The PlayStation Plus Premium is 16.99 euros for one month, 49.99 euros for three months or 119.99 euros for a 12-month subscription.
