“We are among the largest trade fairs in the world.” On the set of Tech & Co on October 31, Nicolas Vignolles, General Delegate of the Leisure Software Publishers Union (Sell), did not hide his pride in relaunching Paris Games Week. On November 2, the fair dedicated to video games opens its doors to visitors after three years of absence.
In 2019, Paris Games Week brought together 317,000 visitors. With more modest ambitions for this recovery edition, called Restart (restart, in French), the fair does not take place in three rooms, but in one. However, Nicolás Vignolles assures him: “Very honestly, we had enough to make three rooms. There really is no question about it.”
The three main manufacturers present
And for good reason: 117 exhibitors will be present from November 2 to 6 at the Porte de Versailles exhibition center in Paris. Due to its general public positioning, Paris Games Week welcomes families and children, but also offers entertainment for “hardcore gamers”, very serious gamers.
With the Junior Paris Games Week, a space of 600 m² is dedicated to education around video games. Twenty facilitators are available to guide and advise “those who don’t know much about the subject”, explains Nicolas Vignolles. All of this coupled with cutting-edge esports events like the Coupe de France semi-finals of League of Legends.
French video game development studios are also present. In addition, the Paris Games Week is the first show that brings together the three main global manufacturers: Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo.
Thus, visitors will be able to take control of the latest generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series, which are victims of component shortages. “This is also the DNA of Paris Games Week, we come and we can play”, concludes the general delegate of Sell.
