Video game streamers fill up during their sessions. According to the new barometer of France Esports, published on the occasion of the Paris Games Week, the consumption of esports continues to increase every year.
According to the study, 19% of Internet users over the age of 15 are esports consumers (about 9.5 million people), an increase of three points compared to last year. In detail, 6% see it at least once a week (+1), 4% between once a week and once a month (+1) and 9% at least once a month (+ 1).
Between Twitch and YouTube
Inevitably, the percentage of viewing is much higher among esports fans (nearly everyone watches at least once a month), but casual gamers have increased the most: 49% (+9) among them. have seen at least once (on video or in real life) esports.
As for the platforms, it is played between Twitch, appreciated mainly by amateur esports (99% of them watch live on the platform) and YouTube, more used by casual gamers.
Finally, the viewing time has increased by a year. Among occasional players, 14% (+4) consume between 1 and 5 hours a week and 2% more than 5 hours. When it comes to amateur esports, almost half (48%) watch more than 5 hours a week.
Quantitative online study carried out by Médiamétrie in June and July 2022 on a main sample of 4,000 people representative of Internet users aged 15 and over using the quota method. A secondary sample is made up of 734 people belonging to the College of Associative Clubs and Players of France Esports, compiled from a file of 3,000 contacts transmitted by France Esports.
