Unexpected help. In the United States, a Ferrari stolen from its owner was found on September 16 after being geolocated by the police using Airpods headphones, according to information broadcast by the WFSB channel.
The “Locate” function
The police were alerted by the victim. After being informed that the headphones had been left in the passenger compartment by their owner, the agents used the application “Locate“, which tracks Apple devices, to track the Airpods. Once arriving at the area where the Ferrari was, the police used this same application to make the Airpods emit a sound and locate the car valued at $575,000.
The alleged thief managed to escape, but in his escape he forgot his iPhone. Thus, the authorities were able to identify the 22-year-old through the smartphone. He was arrested on September 26 while driving another stolen car. An alleged accomplice was also arrested.
This is not the first time that Apple devices have been used to find objects in original circumstances. Last August, a woman used Airtags to Identify thieves of your mail.
