Facebook is adapting its Facebook group pages to WhatsApp sauce to encourage users to spend more time there. And this will take the form of Communities, constellations of groups to strengthen exchanges.
Mark Zuckerberg announced the implementation of these communities for all messaging users. In fact, this is to allow the creation of very large groups at the scale of a company (to better compete with Slack or Microsoft Teams), an association, a district or an entity, within which it will be possible to gather or create smaller ones. thematic or focus groups.
Group meetings in a community.
Aware that WhatsApp is increasingly used for communication and information exchange by area of interest, Meta will thus encourage the creation of “supergroups” with specific functions. In addition to now being the only ones to know who leaves a group, community administrators can send messages to all members or to smaller defined groups at a specific point.
Thus, users can be registered in different groups for different reasons, all grouped within a community. Meta promises that all messages will be end-to-end encrypted to strengthen the security of communities and exchanges.
But the Californian company does not forget the cornerstone of its new vision of WhatsApp: group discussions. They also benefit from the new features implemented for as many people as possible.
Surveys appear in groups, which can now accommodate up to 1,024 members. Video calls officially increase to 32 people. And this will be true for individual groups as well as for communities.
