He made custom images for other delinquent children. Hugh Nelson, a 27-year-old Briton from Bolton, near Manchester, was found guilty not only of sharing child pornography online, but also of inciting rape.
According to the BBC, he sold AI-generated images to other pedophiles in online chat rooms. These images were based on photographs of real children. A case that worries the prosecutor in charge of the case since it mentions “a trend towards the use of AI in the sexual exploitation of children.”
Criminal activity that has worsened
Hugh started out in online chat rooms. He discussed his fantasies with other Italian, French or American pedophiles.
The former graphic design student then went on to generate and sell images to other Internet users. He offered these clients a range of characters ranging from 6 months to adolescence in scenarios in which the child was raped, beaten, drowned or even decapitated. The pedophiles would hand over the chosen character and the context of the image to Hugh and the young man would create bespoke images for a small sum of money (which could be up to £80).
Hugh Nelson even encouraged his clients to rape children. Among his messages, an argument was discovered that incited a man to rape a minor in France. According to The Bolton News, another discussion reveals that the British man tried to pressure a 15-year-old American girl into having sex and sending him pornographic photographs.
The pedophile caught by the police
In May 2023, an undercover officer manages to pose as Hugh’s client. The agent quickly ended up obtaining more than 300 images of children being raped or sexually abused. Some were generated at the request of the police officer.
Caught in the act, the young man was arrested in June 2023 and admits the facts. He then reveals that he is attracted to 12-year-old girls. On their various devices, the police recorded 1,391 prohibited images, according to The Bolton News.
In August 2024, Hugh Nelson pleaded guilty to 16 charges related to his childhood criminal activities. His lawyer describes him as “lonely and socially isolated” and as someone who “was looking to belong to a community.”
To date there is no evidence that the Briton has committed any sexual abuse of a royal child. The young man will receive his sentence on Monday, October 28, 2024.
