He is one of the personalities who spoke during the last legislative elections. More than four months later, YouTuber Squeezie returns to his post believing it was necessary.
On June 14, Squeezie posted an “open letter to all the young people” who follow him on his Instagram account. In this long message, he warned the young people of his community about the risks of the National Rally coming to power, based on previous episodes or examples in foreign countries.
After this speech, the YouTuber lost several thousand subscribers. Although I don’t regret it. The situation was “much” more serious “than losing 200,000 subscribers,” Squeezie says today.
“Above all, I didn’t want to seem self-righteous.”
In this short video excerpt published on the TikTok account of the France Télévisions journalist, Squeezie returns to the wording of this message that he knew could spark controversy.
“I still have some perspective on the fact that it’s a very sensitive topic, so I wrote it down,” he says. “So I said to myself: ‘I’m going to need 3, 4 nights of sleep between which I’m going to reread it with one goal in mind: that it doesn’t bother anyone.’ Which completely failed and discouraged a lot of people,” he smiles. ” “I fact-checked the information I give to verify it properly,” he later swears.
Given the criticism that this position arouses, the content creator defends himself against any position of giving lessons. “I definitely didn’t want to seem prudish or haughty or judge people just because they have a different opinion. I just wanted to be objective: ‘This is what’s happening, this is what happened in the past, this is what just happened.’ “It has happened in other countries where these regimes have passed. But if you still don’t agree with that, no problem: everyone has their own way of thinking,” he swears.
