And three! After the iMac on Monday and the Mac mini on Tuesday, Apple continues its rise this week by adding its high-performance M4 chip to the Macbook Pro. The brand made the long-awaited announcement official this Wednesday by presenting its new models.
An announcement through a simple press release, as if to attest to the few important changes that are expected. The main thing is not in a redesign based on a now known and optimized format, but in the interior. Macbook Pros are available in 14-inch and 16-inch mini-LED display sizes (optional nano-textured coating option). The panel is promised to be brighter (up to 1000 nits in SDR, 1600 nits in HDR). The computers have six speakers and both run on the latest M4 family of chips.
Because, like the Mac mini, the flagship laptop offers a version with M4 and M4 Pro chip for even greater graphics performance, an even faster processor and additional capabilities. And even the appearance of the M4 Max chip. Apple promises at least a device three times faster than the first Macbook Pro released with an M1 chip. You will be able to count on configurations from 512 GB to 8 TB of storage and now from 16 (compared to the 8 GB of the Macbook M3) to 128 GB of unified memory with faster bandwidth for transferring data. Enough to also support up to four connected external displays.
More power, more performance
All this should be felt in the use of video editing, creativity and development applications that will be faster in execution, smoother in opening, especially when they use AI to add effects or others. Once again, Apple is announcing the new benefits of its in-house Mac gaming chips with improved accelerated ray tracing twice as fast. But the message sent is obviously on the side of Apple Intelligence. Now available worldwide (but in English), Apple’s generative AI will support writing, analysis, reminders, organization, photo editing, and AI image creation with Image Playground…
As for connectors, in addition to the Magsafe 3 magnetic socket for charging, the Macbook Pro has an HDMI port, an SDXC card reader and three USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports (Thunderbolt 5 with the M4 Pro and M4 Max versions).
The Macbook pro is available in space black and gray. Pre-orders are now open and the 14- and 16-inch devices will be available on November 8 starting at $1,599 (€1,999). It has the same price as the previous models, but with double the RAM.
Additionally, Macbook Airs do not use the M4 chip. But the models with the M2 and M3 chip (13 and 15 inches) see their initial RAM doubled to 16 GB without changing the price (from 1199 euros for the M2, 1299 euros for a 13-inch M3 chip).
