The newspaper i “cannot be published this Wednesday” after being the object of “repeated computer attacks” that damaged the servers of the publication and of Nascer do Sol, according to a statement released today.
“The newspaper i cannot be published this Wednesday, and it is not possible to predict when its edition will resume,” reads the note, which specifies that “in recent days, the servers of i and Nascer do Sol have suffered repeated computer attacks that the work of the newsroom and of all the departments of the company is unfeasible”.
“The online edition remains, although there may be some limitations on its regular operation,” the group said.
According to the same note, “a report has already been made to the competent authorities, after a first complaint made to the Judicial Police after a first ‘ransomware’ attack last June”, with the director of the newspapers, Mário Ramires, requested “an urgent hearing to the Ministry of Culture, with the supervision of the media, which is already following up on this situation.”
“The management of the newspapers regrets the damage caused to the readers, that is, to the subscribers,” he concludes.
In recent months, several media outlets have been the target of computer attacks, including Impresa, owner of Expresso and SIC, and the Lusa agency.
