In both the United States and the European Union, Bluesky, the social network that competes with X, is seriously beginning to become known. It surpassed 20 million users on November 20, and occupies the top positions in downloads in the App store and Play store.
A growing success that, however, caught the attention of European authorities. According to the Financial Times, if Bluesky is not yet obliged to follow all the directives linked to the Digital Services Act, the platform will have to quickly comply with some points.
Bluesky will have to be more transparent in Europe
The DSA is a European regulation intended to better regulate social platforms, as long as they exceed 45 million active European users per month. Facebook, Instagram and even X fall within the scope of the DSA. For Bluesky, which has not yet reached that point, its creators will still have to think in particular about appointing a European representative, resident in the Old Continent, who will then serve as a point of contact with the European Commission.
In addition, the platform must also indicate its number of users more clearly, on a specific page. Finally, Bluesky will also have to set up offices in the European Union.
At the same time, Bluesky confirmed its intention to significantly increase its number of moderators on Platformer from 25 people to around one hundred.
If you feel like signing up for Bluesky, there are plenty of tips for a smooth journey from X, including the ability to import your posts and find your subscribers.
