While Netflix just launched an ad-supported offering, Apple seems to want to follow the same trajectory. According to the US media Bloomberg, the apple brand will broadcast advertising during Major League Soccer games, the North American soccer championship, both in its AppleTV+ payment offer and in the free application.
The advertising side of the American company generates around $4 billion in revenue a year, but is looking to grow in double digits. To this end, Apple recently signed a 10-year, $2.5 billion deal to broadcast Major League Soccer games. The show, punctuated by commercials, will be broadcast on the Apple TV + streaming platform with the paid offer. Apple will also stream a portion of the games for free to users of the Apple TV app. This offering should launch in the United States in February 2023.
advertising everywhere
The Los Gatos company could also introduce a full TV+ ad-supported offering, following in the footsteps of Netflix and Disney, Bloomberg suggests. Apple could also integrate advertising into its Maps app, as Google already does.
Apple is betting more and more on advertising revenue. In fact, this summer, Apple announced that it wanted to multiply ads in the App Store. However, in a press release sent on October 26 to specialized US media MacRumorsthe company says it has suspended “advertisements related to gaming and some other categories on App Store product pages.”
