Since Nvidia became one of the largest market capitalization companies, no one dares to make fun of it anymore. There was a time when Nvidia’s conferences were viewed with some amusement, especially because of the antics of its CEO, Jensen Huang. But with time and technological advances, and promises of AI becoming more and more present in people’s lives, Nvidia has changed the minds of many skeptics.
Its traditional CES conference, the largest fair dedicated to new technologies in the world, allows the group to present its new models of graphics cards. This was again the case for the 2025 edition, with the RTX 50 arriving between the end of January and February. But to access this conference, the crowd was unusual.
Should CES thank Nvidia?
More than two hours of waiting, a queue of several hundred meters, a supercharged environment and a giant room… Nvidia has understood that it is now alone on stage to try to draw attention to CES. Because the show located in Las Vegas has less and less legitimacy over the years, due to the absence of big names in the industry, like Apple. The company led by Tim Cook even tried to avoid the event in January 2024 with the Vision Pro.
However, Nvidia is not the only brand that holds conferences. But it is clear that it is the only company this year that really creates some expectation.
The tens of billions earned by Nvidia thanks to its omnipresence in the AI space have created a disturbing situation: its big boss and his actions are now under close scrutiny.
Even AMD, although present in AI, arouses little interest. Nobody has accepted Intel’s announcements in this area either.
Nvidia, however, has a very chauvinistic advantage: it is a successful American company. So, inevitably, journalists, entrepreneurs, influencers and investors flock to the doors of a conference that, coincidentally, has put the spotlight back on the program.
But technological cycles are like that. Nvidia’s reign at CES may not last. The evolution of the stock market will say a lot about the future success of the company, which, let us remember, has no factories. Especially since doubts persist about Nvidia’s ability to predict the next breakthrough in the sector.
A fight that has only just begun
He showed a few years ago that preparing for generative intelligence was not such a bad idea, against all odds. Will it be the same next time?
The answer to this question is not so obvious. However, we believe Nvidia is aware that its current customers are looking to shed their dependence on dedicated AI chips. It doesn’t matter: Nvidia is multiplying its proposals to show that it intends to remain essential. This translates, for example, into the arrival to the general public of a “computer” that will allow generative AI at home, without going through Google or OpenAI. But it is also through robotics that perhaps the next big step will be taken.
Jensen Huang’s desire is to make Nvidia the inevitable player in this field, in particular by creating simulated environments that allow robots to use most language models.
By proudly displaying AI in its latest slogan (“Powering Advanced AI”), Nvidia has convinced far beyond investors. The fight has been long, but it has only just begun, with the CES as a true eternal starting point.
