Make it easy for future hosts to rent their place on Airbnb. It is with this objective that the Californian private accommodation reservation firm presented, this Wednesday, November 16, two new solutions aimed at encouraging people to take action: Airbnb Start and the extension of AirCover protection for hosts.
A host taken from the hand
In fact, Airbnb Start offers neophyte hosts free one-on-one support from a “Superhost” who is already familiar with the platform system. This contact person helps them get started with Airbnb and answers all their questions. Another novelty: during a first rental as a new host “you will be able to select experienced travelers” who have a good track record, Bertrand Burdet, deputy director of Airbnb France, explains to Tech&Co.
A solution designed to reassure owners. Finally, they will also be able to benefit from the assistance of a team of Airbnb agents specially trained to assist them. With this new offer, “the idea is to simplify the procedures so that a maximum of hosts can join the platform”, emphasizes Bertrand Burdet.
Extended coverage in case of damage
Launched last November, AirCover protection is enriched and extends the coverage of possible damage caused by hosts. “We are extending the coverage in case of damage to three million euros. Until now it was one million euros. We are also increasing the use cases,” explains Bertrand Burdet from Tech&Co. Specifically, the protection will now cover goods such as cars, boats, works of art or even valuables.
Thus, in case of going on vacation leaving the car in the garage, the extension allows you to be insured on this property. In addition, as part of this guarantee, and with the aim of reassuring owners, the platform promises to expand the verification of the identity of travelers and the simplification of procedures to claim compensation.
