Finally, a reader who looks like a real book. The Chinese Company Readmoo has announced a first reader with a folding screen with E-TINK technology (digital ink).
Moing V is its name, you can admit up to 200,000 folds. To succeed in this Tour de Force, it took nine years of development with and Ink, the company that designs readers’ screens.
Even more colors and a robust hinge
Once implemented, the Mooink V offers an 8 -inch color screen, thanks to Gallery 3 technology compared to the Kindle Colorsooft, previously announced in 2024 by Amazon, this screen can play up to 50,000 colored tones at a 300ppi resolution (against 4096 tones with the Kindle).
The main difficulty for and Ink has been to design a hinge reliable enough to accommodate the screen much thicker than the one found on Samsung or Google smartphones (OLED).
Moing V weighs approximately 225 grams, such as the Kindle Colorsooft, and can be flat, or up to 90 degrees depending on its reading habits. In the images transmitted by Readmoo, however, there is a space between the two screens. Therefore, the reader is not perfectly flat once closed, which can cause dust or small waste.
Readmoo has not yet launched the launch date or the price of its reader, but the company has confirmed a launch with the general public “as soon as possible.”
