With a small delay, Instagram launches its Capcut competitor. Meta, his parent company, announced the availability of editions this Tuesday, April 22. Announced in January by the Instagram head, Adam Mosseri, this request was initially expected for early March.
It is presented as “a video creation application that helps you make excellent videos directly on your phone.” While the creation of videos may require several applications, Instagram intends to allow it to be carried out in a place with editions, such as Capcut, the application developed by Bytedance, the Tiktok parent company.
“Our goal is to build the most convincing creative tools to help creators freely express themselves in any way they can imagine, not only on Instagram and Facebook, but on all existing platforms,” Meta said in a press release.
A first step
To help creators make videos, Edits offers several tools. In addition to being able to record videos, which last ten minutes, they will have access to functions such as visual touch, the green background or a music catalog. They can also add subtitles or use AI to create videos from static images.
And, goal does not plan to stop there, ensuring that “this is just the first step to create an application that helps create your best videos.” Therefore, the company reveals that it works in new features such as “modification”, which will modify the appearance of a video thanks to the effects of AI or “creativity” that will offer more sources, text animations or even vocal effects.
Keep in mind that to use editions, available in App Store and Android, it is necessary to have an Instagram account. This launch occurs when Tiktok’s future in the United States is uncertain, just like Capcut’s. In fact, the social network can be banished from the American land from the vote of a law that forces its parent company to yield control. If Donald Trump has once again postponed the deadline for the sale of 75 days in early April, Tiktok’s future is still threatened throughout the Atlantic.
