The American streamer Hasan Piker, who is among the most followed left personalities in the United States, said Monday that he had been held for several hours by the US border police, who would have questioned him about his anti-Trump and Pro-Palestine positions.
“It was a crazy situation. It was obvious that they knew exactly who I was,” said the 33 -year -old streamer on his Twitch account, where he has several million subscribers to his live broadcasts, who combine video games and comments on news with opinions marked to the left.
Asked about his political opinions
In his video on Monday, “Hazanabi” says that on his return from a trip to France the previous day, the immigration authorities isolated him in a room at the Chicago airport and the immigration authorities held her for two hours.
The streamer, of the American and Turkish nationalities, adds that the agent responsible for interrogating him asked him to discuss his positions on different issues.
“I am sitting there and they wonder about Trump. They wonder about Hamas. And (the agent) continued saying: ‘Do you like Hamas? Do you support Hamas?'”
In his videos, Hasan Piker often supports the Palestinian cause in the war in Gaza against Israel. He says he has responded to the border police officer: “I am on the side of the civilians, I want the endless blood bath to stop. I am a pacifist.”
The streamer had markedly met Jean-Luc Mélenchon, during his visit to France, who reacted in X.
Possible intimidation
“Obviously, the reason they do is try to create an atmosphere of fear” to “make people close,” said Hasan Piker in his video.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Security accused him of “lying.”
“The accusations according to which their political opinions have led to this inspection have no basis,” writes Tricia McLaughlin in X, describing “a legal and legal procedure, which arrives every day and can concern any traveler. Once the control is finished, it was quickly released.”
In mid -March, the French government had deplored the prohibition of entering the United States of a French researcher who came to attend a conference, because he would have expressed a “personal opinion” on American research policy from the return to the power of Donald Trump. A version denied by the Republican administration.
