“Not in my name”: Brian Eno, Windows 95 composer, reverse royalties in Gaza

Microsoft continues to suffer the anger of its policy in Israel, where the company has several important contracts in the field of defense. After several internal employees, the Windows 95 starting sound composer expresses himself against him.

In a publication published on Instagram, Brian Eno – former Roxy Music clavianist, called “all platforms” to “cease” its operations in Israel, accused of wanting to carry out a genocide in the Gaza Strip for its opponents. It attacks Microsoft Head -on a letter entitled “No in my name.”

Royalties donated to Gaza’s “victims”

“I accepted with pleasure the project (Windows 95) as a creative challenge and appreciated interact with my teams in the company (…) I would never have believed that the same company could be involved someday in a machine of oppression and in the war,” he writes.

It is especially “united” of the actions carried out by Microsoft employees. In recent weeks, some of them have publicly protested against their employer, especially during the company’s 50 years, then only a few days ago, during an event dedicated to developers.

In response to the overflows of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary, Microsoft had fired two of the interested employees, and had also carried out an internal investigation to establish their responsibilities, even indirect, about what is happening in Gaza.

This had established that no element showed that its tools could have been used to “aim or damage” the population of Gaza.

Brian Eno does not seem to be convinced of this investigation, and explains that the royalties he plays for his compositions within the Windows surroundings will be donated to “help victims” in the Palestinian enclave.

Israel is accused of wanting to completely seize the Gaza Strip, under the appearance of “rejection” of the population of Gazán. To do this, the State achieves bombings that have turned thousands of victims, mainly civil. Faced with these actions reported even in the highest European political spheres, boycott operations have been organized.
