“Heart is heavy but damn I keep my head up”: the messages from Twitter employees who slammed the door

Dozens of employees announced their resignation Thursday night after refusing to “fully” commit to Elon Musk’s project. Obviously, they announced it on the social network.

Twitter still has a captain, but it’s clearly going to be short on sailors. On Thursday night, dozens of Twitter employees announced their departure from the company. They had until 5 p.m. California time to sign an email-imposed commitment: either commit “to the extreme” (“hardcore”) at their job, or walk away with 3 months’ salary.

For many, therefore, the second option was preferred. And most obviously, she announced it on Twitter, sometimes tersely, sometimes with emotion hard to hide. Many also used a greeting 🫡 emoji to pay their last respects to the platform, caught up in the Musk turmoil.

Some also show a long life in the company: 8, 9 or even 12 years at Twitter, created in 2006.

“Mandatory delivery of my weapon and my badge,” shows another employee, supporting photo.

“I can be exceptional, damn I’m not hardcore,” says another.

“Heart is heavy but damn I keep my head up,” says another.

This cascade of resignations does not seem to worry Elon Musk anymore, however, who has continued in recent hours with his eternal jokes and ironies on his Twitter account.

Taking an extract of Star Wars: A New Hope in which Princess Leia asks Obi-Wan Kenobi for help, the text shown this time asking for help from the two fake employees who claimed to have been fired by Musk in early November.

In another tweet, he reuses a famous meme to explain that Twitter (the new?) buried Twitter (the old?). Or, according to the interpretations, that it was the Twitter users themselves who killed the social network.

I am not sure that these messages will calm the storm that the ship plunged into after the multimillionaire buyback. And rightly so, the latter assures him in yet another tweet: “The best people stay, so I’m not super worried.”
